Markha Valley Trek from Spituk

Description

Markha Valley is one of the most famous treks of Ladakh region. It is an amazing trip to get introduced with magical and remote Buddhist Kingdom of Ladakh. While trekking on through this trek, tourists pass through beautiful Buddhist Monasteries, Mountain Villages, High altitude pastures of Nimaling and the high altitude peak Kangyatse.

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1. Drive Leh to Spituk & Trek to Zingchen 3402 mtrs , 4-5 hrs

    You will drive Leh to Spituk, FromSpituk you will start your trek and and continue to Zingchen. It will be a easy day trek. Overnight Camp 

  • Day 2. Zingchen to Yurutse 4148 mtrs , 5 hrs

    It's a gradual climb from Zinchen to Rumbak. From here one gets fabulous views of the snow capped Stok Mountains. From here we move along the Rumbak Nala towards Yurutse. At Yurutse village you will find fields of barley and potatoes. 

  • Day 3. Yurutse to Sku 3366 via Gandhala 4961 6 hrs

    A gradual ascent followed by a steep climb gets one to the Ganda la (4961 M). From here views extend south to the Zanskar range and distant summits of the Himalayan range. This is followed by a long descent to Shingo village. From Shingo the trail heads into a narrow gorge leading towards Skiu. At Skiu there is a confluence of the rivers coming from Markha valley and Shingo. 

  • Day 4. Sku to Markha 3760 mtr. 6 hrs

    From Skiu, follow a good path on the right bank of Markha where one can find great vegetation. Then cross right bank of river and cross through barren plain and arrive at Chaluk. Thereafter walk along the left bank of river and after another crossing climb towards Markha village. Good camp site beyond the Village and near river. Overnight in camp..

  • Day 5. Markha to Hankar 4030 mtr. 5 hrs

    Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach  Hankar village. Overnight in camp.

  • Day 6. Hankar to Nimaling 4841 mtr, 6 hrs

    After breakfast start trekking to reach Nimaling. Nimaling (4841 M) has a sweeping pasture where thousands of sheep, goats, yaks and graze during the summer months, rising to the south is 6400 M high Kang Yatse (Nimaling Peak), a lovely mountain, but not an easy one to climb, Overnight in tents.

  • Day 7. Nimaling to Shangsumdo 3680 mtr via Kongmarula 5260 mtrs 6.5 hrs

    After breakfast start trekking to reach Kongmaru La (5260 M). The trek to Kongmaru la passes through narrow Gorges. At the top of the pass, you can have view of the Ladakh range and the villages of the Indus valley to the north is excellent. Cross the pass and proceed to Shangsumdoo. 

  • Day 8. Shangsumdo to Hemis & Drive to Leh 5 hrs

    Continue your trek to Hemis it will take3 hours, You will visit Hemis and drive to Leh.
