Hemis to Tsomoriri Trek

Description

This trekking route is one of the most beautiful and well known for trekkers. Its route connects Hemis National Park and Changthang Plateau where Nomadic people stay with Yaks and Sheeps. You will have oppourtunity to see lots of things like, Nomadic people with Yak and sheeps, two beautiful lakes - Tsokar and Tsomoriri, beautiful landscpe, and the beautiful Korzok Monastery. 

Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day 1. Drive Leh to Hemis & Trek to Shangsumdo. 3680 mtr. 5 hrs

    Early morning Leh to Hemis by jeep, visit the HemisGompa and start trekking to Shang Sumdo: cross Martselangbridge, then ascent up valley along the river, crossing it several times before reaching Sang Sumdo. Overnight at camp. 

  • Day 2. Shangsumdo to Lartsa. 4594 mtr. 5 hrs

    The route follows through a stunning landscape of red rocks along the slope, then along river till Chuskyurmo (sour water), on through gorges of small rivers many of which need to be crossed before camp is made for the night at Lartsa below Kongmarula Pass. Overnight at camp. 

  • Day 3. Larsa to Nimaling 4841 mtr via Kongmarula pass 5260 mtr. 5.5 hrs

    Before descending to a high mountain pasture at Nimaling (4700m), we must ascent steeply up to Kongmarula Pass (5150m), offering a beautiful view of the northern face of Kang Yatse Peak (6400m). From Nimaling up, cross a ridge, then descent to a beautiful valley, cross river, on up again, following a rocky slope up Nimaling. Overnight at camp. 

  • Day 4. Thuchungtse to Yakrupal 4608 mtr. 5.5 hrs

    Today trek is easy as you trek through the remote Langthang valley. Langthang valley is also summer pastureland of villagers of Markha where you find sheep, donkeys, yaks and horses. Morning after breakfast, follow the route and continue along the valley down until it divides, cross the river over a wooden bridge and follow the valley to the left along the Langthang Chu upstream River. The River has the tendency of rising by late afternoon due to snow melting in the mountains. Therefore, an early start is recommended, as you have to cross the river several times. Nice and greenery campsite. Overnight: camp near the river.

  • Day 5. Yakrupal to Khar 4288 mtr via ZalungKarpo la 5164 mtr (6.5 hrs)

    As usual after breakfast, continue up along the upstream river and the scenic valley towards the top of the pass. Leaving behind the river on the way, you enter in another valley towards right side. You have easy and gentle trek as far as top of the pass. From the top of the pass, you enjoy the specular and awesome view of valley and enchanting mountains of Zanskar range on one side and on the other side, the plateau of Changthang stretching far into Tibet. Cross the pass and gently descend down. This trek path and several river crossing lead you to the right bank of the Changchu River and the camping site of Tilat Sumdo. Across the Tilat Sumdo, afternoon, explore around and enjoy the delightful some of the isolated gorges nearby. Around this place you may be able to see the wild animals like blue sheep and the rare snow leopard.

  • Day 6. Kharnak to Dat 4307 mtr 5hrs

    It will be aeasy day trek , Its possibility to see some wild animals. You can also  visit the Nomadic life of Changtang / Rupshow valley. 

  • Day 7. Dat to Lungmoche 4617 mtr via Yarla 4929 mtr 6 hrs

     This morning, you will walk on flat ground for several hours, appreciating the vastness of the fairly bleak Dat valley. Towards lunchtime, you will take a turn at a natural spring, and begin your approach to the Yar La. From this pass, you will see a great change in landscape. You are now arriving in the Changthang plains. A one-hour descent from the pass will bring you to Lungmoche, a windy but beautiful campsite.

  • Day 8 . Lungmoche to Zara 4620 mtr, 5 hrs

    Today’s walking is fairly gentle, and after several hours you should reach the nomad headquarters of the Kharnak people at Yagang. Here you can interact with the nomads and enjoy some lunch. Several more hours of walking will bring you to the settlement of the Rupshu nomads at Zara, where you will spend the night.

  • Day 9. Zara to Pangunugu/Tsokar lake 4651 mtr 5.5 hrs

    Leaving the nomad camp after breakfast, you should arrive on the Manali road after just an hour’s walk. From here, an opening into the Tsokar basin lies in front of you, and it is a short 2 hour walk to your camp at Pangunagu. For the rest of the day, you can explore the TsoKar basin - an afternoon walk to the shore of the lake (45 min) should be considered a must

  • Day 10. Pangunangu to Nuruchan 4678 mtr 5:30 hrs.

    Today its an easy walk along the lake. motorable road nad take the some direction from the end of stupa along the road. after sometime you can have view of Agriculture field. and the 4712m. 3/4 hrs.camp site is just next to the field near the river.

  • Day 11. Nuruchan to Gyama Barma 5195 mtrs 6 hrs

    AS easy ascend to the pass takes around i hours 30 minutes. the trailtruns towards north east just after crossing the pass through the velly. the camp site is across the river at the base of the kyamayurla pass.

  • Day 12. Gyama barma to Gyamar 5157 mtr . 5 hrs

    Start climbing kyamayur la pass 5125m as soon azs you leave your campwhich takes around 2hrs. at average speed. the last climbis tiring one . after the pass the trail leads towards north east and at the end of the velly trail start ascending another small pass called gyamaila 5100m from where you can have view of a group of peaks.walk down towards north east and cross a small river 

  • Day 13. Gyamar to Korzok (Tsomoriri) 4553 mtrs 6 hrs.

    Start an easy ascent to the korzok pass along the stream.it takes around 2 hrs to reach the top from where you can have wondeful view of the lake. then steep down to korzok village. you can also camps are lake if you have extra days.one day rest.
