Positioned at an astounding height of 6153 meters, it is the highest peak in the Ladakh region. The elevation of this majestic peak covers almost 70% of the height of the Everest, making it perplexing and fairly technical. Best Time To Visit
Without a doubt, Stok Kangri is one of the most fascinating treks in Leh – Ladakh region. The summit provides you with the stunning beauty of Zanskar Range, Karakoram Range, and even the majestic K2 Peak. Though tourists visit Ladakh throughout the year yet the ideal time to embark on Stok Kangri Trek is between July to September. The climate between October and November can be marginally unkind yet suitable for experienced trekkers.

The starting point of this trek is Leh, which is accessible by both air and road between the months May to September.

Trekking Days & Acclimatization

Once you reach Leh, it is advised to spend a day or two getting acclimatized. While you're at it, you can visit some great places in Leh like the Shanti Stupa, Pangong Lake, Thiksey Monastery, etc.
On the trekking day, after early breakfast, you will drive to the Stok village, which will mark the beginning of your trek. Then you’ll trek towards Mankorma and then to the base camp of the Stok Kangri Trek. In this trek, you’ll experience the outstanding vista of Snow-Capped Mountains, Zanskar Range and the Karakoram Range K2. The panoramic view of from the summit is extremely enchanting.

Things To Carry

1. A backpack with all the necessary equipment for the trek e.g. walking stick, head torch with an extra battery, warm sleeping bags, sun cream, trekking shoes, down jacket, cap, thermal and hat.
2. Raincoat as you cannot predict the weather of Stok Kangri.
3. Water bottles, and hydration packs to make sure you stay hydrated and energized.
4. Snacks like energy bars, protein bars, dry fruits, etc.
5. Personal medical kit with necessary first-aid items and medicines you think you’ll need.
6. All the toiletries in an easy to reach bag.
7. Extra accessories like sunglasses, caps, gloves, walking stick and torch.
8. Do not forget a pair of gloves, as you will need them the most.
